By evaluating, documenting and publicizing remnants of old-growth forests and individual tree specimens, we educate the public and policy makers, mitigate development pressure on woodlands and promote urban forests. In addition to initiating and participating in high-profile tree preservation efforts nationally, Largess Forestry has been instrumental in community-based efforts to save historically significant trees and valuable open space.
Matt Largess is currently working with non-profit groups such as the New York Old-Growth Forest Association (NYOGFA) to survey old-growth forests, educate the general public of their value and protect them from development.
